Maverick

Just under 400 square feet of love.

Maverick is a 2023 42′ Grand Design Solitude 390RK Fifth wheel. There is a master room in the nose of the trailer, then a bathroom down the hall leading to the living room in the middle. Finally, we opted for the rear kitchen since we liked how it overlooked the living room, making the whole inside feel larger than it was.

As we were walking through a boat and RV show, we discovered there were so many things to consider that we didn’t know what we didn’t know. Greg is taller, so he stood in all the showers to make sure he fit. We realized we needed a large spot for Tigger’s bed (it’s not little). We didn’t need a bunkhouse, but we did need a place for Greg to work. So, we narrowed down what would work and which ones were offered by the manufacturer we wanted. The model we landed on allowed us to remove one of the couches and now Tigger has his own slideout. Eventually, the plan is to build him a platform, so his bed is up higher and he can see out of the windows. #dogslife

There is another couch that converts into a double bed, and two reclining chairs for seating in the living area. Under the TV and mantle, there are two cubbies for electronics and a great place for the PS4. Under that, the fireplace flames and rocks change colors (so fun to play with!) and when switched on, blows enough heat to take the chill out of the air. There is a ton of storage above the couch and the moon pod has a home for lounging closer to the TV.

There are so many windows in our new home and we love feeling like we are outside without being outside in the elements. Tigger loves his sun puddles to lay in. Three steps up goes into the kitchen with the eat-in bar separating the two rooms.

I love that the kitchen has an island! I feel like I have so much counter space to work with. We have pretty much all the amenities of a traditional kitchen, with the exception of a dishwasher. I don’t really miss that too much, but I really miss having a garbage disposal! I enjoy having the window behind the sink so I’m not staring at the wall when doing dishes.

I use the stove almost daily and the oven at least once a week. We purchased a countertop appliance that doubles as a blacktop and grill, so we haven’t purchased an exterior grill (yet). All the cabinets are very deep, some are odd-shaped, and we are still figuring out where we like everything best. The microwave is ginormous and our little oven fits perfectly underneath. Yes, there is a beer fridge under the counter, but that’s another story…

Down the hall from the living room is the bathroom. Major features – shower head and double sinks! Since we are living in the rig full-time, we wanted to make sure we had all our creature comforts. Unfortunately, it’s harder to have a higher water pressure in an RV since not all the faucets can handle it. We have a pressure regulator on the incoming water source so nothing inside breaks.

Our bedroom is in the nose, which allows lots of room for the closet and washer/dryer closet. While we share the little dresser, and the couple of drawers under the bed, there is a ton of shelving behind the hanging clothes. Very little hanging space, but when neither of us have to worry about wearing business casual (ever), we need less space.

The bed does lift up and the whole underside is storage, which is very nice! I have discovered laundry sheets and fabric softener sheets, so when the bottles of Tide and Downy from the house are gone, I can get that little shelf back.

So, this is our new home and we look forward to finish getting it set up to be perfect for us! Hope you enjoyed the photo tour and we look forward to showing it off in person. πŸ™‚

Happy travels!
