Just down the road from where we were staying in Chuckey, TN, is Brights Zoo. It’s a sweet little zoo, and the reason we went was because they had a rare patternless giraffe birth there that we wanted to see the new baby giraffe, Kipekee. Going in, we were very shocked at how large the zoo was and how far back the land and enclosures went. We thoroughly enjoyed the giraffes and stayed to watch them for quite a while. There were quite a few giraffes in a smaller sized fenced in area, so I guess they like to be close. They were also licking the metal rails and we found out that it helps them create saliva to digest food. The little baby giraffe was adorable!!

I especially liked the Spider Monkeys – I loved how they played together! Greg took me by their enclosure multiple times so I could ooh and aah over their cuteness (as long as we weren’t down wind of the enclosure).

We slowly meandered around the zoo for a couple hours and didn’t feel rushed since we went during the week. We definitely enjoyed the beautiful weather, watching the animals, and just slowing down for a bit.

SO glad we got to see the patternless giraffe and other zoo animals. Until next time!
