A few years ago, God had me go through a season of speaking out my gratefulness for anything and everything I was grateful for, on a daily basis. It was very therapeutic and something I strive to keep at the front of my mind. Aside from gratefulness, stating the thoughts out loud on purpose also gave me a sense of perspective. Most times, that sense was “wow, I’ve got it so good”, while other times it was “Jesus, can we go back to the ‘I’ve got it so good’ season”. Either way, it was a growing experience.

This Thanksgiving, I had the great pleasure of being back in Florida and camping close to the Parentals at Wickham Park. My middle brother, Mike, and his family (Katy, Claire, and Ella) recommended the campground they found and we were able to book the last spot. Grateful to be able to see and spend some quality time with them. The park was huge, almost 400 acres, and had hiking/biking trails, fishing ponds, swimming ponds, amphitheater, disc golf, volleyball courts, soccer fields, and so much more. We felt really comfortable here and plan to return for another camping trip. One morning, we had a not-so-little visitor that I photo captured who came by to check out our site.
The first evening, we had the Parentals and Mike & family over for a picnic dinner. Even though it sprinkled on us the end of the night, we hung out in Maverick, and I couldn’t have been happier. Friday, we had everyone over again, including my baby brother, Drew, who arrived in town and it rained the whole time. Making the most of it, we rearranged the interior of Maverick and everyone fit – nine humans + Tigger! Again, it was an evening full of laughter, food, and games – so, perfect! It was so incredible I forgot to take ANY pictures, lol.

Thanksgiving Day, I got to be surrounded by all three of my brothers and their families for the first time in YEARS. Momma said it’s her favorite – to be surrounded by her whole family. So, my perspective this year is gratefulness for family, chosen or not, I am grateful to have the time to spend with them now that I have more free time.

What are you grateful for?
