I missed my little brother, Drew.
He has lived and worked in Vegas for many years and I don’t see his as often as I used to. He has always come to family functions and even flew out to surprise me for my doctoral graduation! So, I booked a flight for Vegas just to see him. No other plans or reasons for being out there, just him. He works hard and is remodeling his home, so I am grateful he put his life on hold for me for a couple days.
His boyfriend, Joe, was able to get us tickets to the show he was working, and Drew told me to dress to impress. Um, I live in a Fifth wheel with all my gowns in the small storage unit in TN. A quick call to Mom and she found me a cute consignment boutique where I was able to drop by and find a beautiful floor-length black gown for only $75!
I flew in on a Friday and walked around Vegas for a couple hours just to say I saw it in person (wow, that Sphere is cool!). One of the casino hotels Drew recommended me to see, had this incredible Christmas display set out. I was in awe, along with hundreds of other people wandering around the room. Look closely, it’s flowers… wow. Then, of course I found a chocolate waterfall in my wanderings. I don’t even recall where I was at this point.

After a quick power nap, I got dolled up and Drew came around to collect me like a dashing gentleman. The Dita Von Teese show was housed in the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel and let me say, just wow. The artistry of the performers was magnificent! After the show, we enjoyed a drink at the bar and Joe joined us to share on his prospective backstage. What a delightful evening!

The next day, we all slept in, had lunch at a super cute little taco place, then went a picked out a Christmas tree. Joe had to work, so Drew and I had fun decorating the tree with his precious little dog.

I’m so grateful to have been able to spend even a little time just talking with Drew. I love him so much and can’t wait to see him in May!
