The adult kids are coming to town – what should we do??
Go to Disney, of course!
When the kids started planning to come down for the Parentals anniversary party, Sarah really wanted to make sure they got to visit Disney because Johnathon had never been and is a huge Star Wars fan. So, we booked our timeshare at Disney for 3 nights to let them have the full experience.
Sunday night, we walked around Disney Springs for sightseeing and shopping. I chose Rainforest Cafe for our dinner because I wanted to see how Riley would react. He kept turning around in his high-chair to watch the scenery move or the people coming and going, so we finally just turned his high chair around. I guess we weren’t as amusing!

We stopped for ice cream at Ghirardelli’s (of course) and while the ice cream was good and Riley shared with me, he was so amused with the spoon even after the ice cream was gone. Silly kid!

Monday, we went to Magic Kingdom. Sarah had shirts made for everyone – Disney Trip 2024. Hers said Mommy, Johnathon’s said Daddy, Jason’s said Uncle Jason, Greg’s said Pops, and mine said Nana. SO cute!

The performance on the stage was just happening as we arrived, and Riley was entranced by the music and performers. He watched the whole show!

Since Johnathon had never visited Disney before, he had to try and remove the sword from the stone! Of course Jason tried as well…

We stopped by Gaston’s Tavern and ate cinnamon rolls the size of Riley’s head. Check out that look on his face! He was adamant about having a bite of that monstrosity!

The boys went to ride a rollercoaster and I wanted Sarah to rest her feet a bit (it was HOT and she’s 6 months pregnant). Riley and I ran up and down stairs giggling and laughing until we found this circus tent that I guess is used for kids activities, but was currently empty. He had a grand time carrying around his water bottle, climbing up on chairs and talking to me the whole time. It was ridiculously adorable!
Amusing ourselves

Riley and Nana

The running around tired him out, so Riley slept while the adults had chicken and waffles for lunch. Yum!

Still a little sleepy from a nap, I got to play with Riley through the whole line for Pirates of the Caribbean. What a little trooper!

Then, the boys went on Space Mountain while us girls took Riley to the Monsters Laugh floor. He was only slightly amused, but we had the whole row to ourselves, so Riley and I played chase down the row. He was laughing and that’s all that mattered to me!

We worked hard to get in the virtual cue for Tron because I REALLY wanted Jason and Johnathon to be able to experience it. It rained that afternoon which helped the virtual cue move quicker, and we worked hard to get Riley tuckered out to hopefully nap a little more for Sarah while she waited for us on Tron.
Of course his Uncle Jason wanted to throw him in the air.
Of course Riley loved and and Jason had to throw him 20 more times.
See Riley still bouncing like he’s going to get thrown right away?!
Haha!
Our time arrived and we ran through the rain to stand in line inside.

The cue inside was still 30 minutes or so, but then we got to get on the bikes!

…and then back off the bikes due to a malfunction. They then turned the lights on, but didn’t kick us out. We were not leaving – we waited all day to ride these bikes!

Sarah took a video of our bike ride.
If you look really close you can see us!

It was a magical day in the Magic Kingdom. Many memories were made, and most of them were great! 🙂

Tuesday, we went to Hollywood Studios so Johnathon could get his Star Wars fix – he even made a reservation to build his own lightsaber! The line for Rise of the Resistance was LONG, so we found ways to amuse ourselves and each other with photos.

Riley and I wandered off when we found out he was too little for the ride, and let the other adults experience being interrogated by Storm Troopers.

Riley and I found where Animal from the Muppets had played with paint and Riley loved running around there, sitting on various benches and petting the lion heads!

Johnathon got his picture with the Storm Trooper and Riley didn’t scream, but look at how he’s checking the Trooper out!

Then, Riley got to meet Chewbacca. He wasn’t too thrilled about the hairy beast being by his Mommy!

Sarah and Johnathon went to build Johnathon’s light saber – what a cool experience!

The rest of us took Riley to Toy Story Land where we got to see the Army drummers!
After a snack, we went over to see the Indiana Jones show. We wanted to make sure to get decent seats to let Sarah have a rest and keep Riley contained. He created his own game of wearing Dad’s hat, then giving it back to Dad, then taking it from Dad, then wearing it backwards and forwards. It was quite amusing to all of us!

Next, was the Frozen sing-along. Apparently, naptime was first though. Riley slept through the whole show, incredible.

We saw the Cars experience, did Mickey’s Runaway Railroad, and then joined 8,000 of our now closest friends for Fantasmic.

The kids left Wednesday and had a crazy trip back. We went down south for a couple work days, then came back to Orlando for a weekend alone. We stayed at the Orlando Marriott World Center and got to see fireworks from most of the Disney parks! Check out our view!

Saturday, we went to Epcot to stroll around the Flower & Garden Festival for the day. It turned out to be the HOTTEST day…

We enjoyed some good eats and the beautiful gardens. It’s not my favorite festival, but we always love spending time together at Epcot.

We are already making plans for the Food & Wine Festival that starts August 29th! Want to join us?
