Jonesborough is the oldest town in Tennessee and they always have something going on. It is the center for the International Storytelling Festival where THOUSANDS come to enjoy the stories shared. I saw that there was a Garden Gala happening and just had to check it out. I reached out to my friend, Jessica, and along with her daughter Jayce, we set out to do the self-guided walking tour through the gardens of individual Jonesborough homeowners. I didn’t take as many pictures as I should have, because I was thoroughly enjoying everything.
One of the more unique houses was an old church, turned schoolhouse, turned residence from the 1800s. The widowed gentleman who lives there now, has turned the old garage into a music room and garden area into an eclectic oasis.

The Rees-Hawley House, built in 1779, has been a sweet little bed and breakfast for over 20 years. The downstairs area is like a museum and the decor hasn’t changed in decades. The ceilings were so low, that I would even have to duck going in the door! Outside in the lawn was an old wooden table and chairs set. What I thought was so unique, was the moss growing on the wood of the set!

One of my most favorite gardens housed a fairy garden with the branches of multiple trees. I cannot wait to have one of these on our property!

We could see the hours of work and dedication these homeowners put into their gardens. It was so beautiful and inspiring to wander through them. I have found a new fascination with glass garden flowers and bought a couple for my little garden at the campground.

The garden party couldn’t be complete without serving tea and little snacks. It was a wonderfully fun day out with the girls!
